KENTALA aka Harri Kentala was born in Helsinki, Finland but spent a lot of his childhood in Kaustby, Ostrobothnia. He started singing and playing guitar at a very young age and already as a teenager, he knew that music would be his career. Today he is a known singer/songwriter, performer and producer and has been a performing musician for about 20 years. Kentala got his Master's degree from Sibelius Academy in 2012, and today he is also an educator himself.
Kentala is also known from the funk/rock band Wee People, who placed second in the national band contest "Rock 96" in Oulu, Finland in 1996. Wee People released some albums and released some music videos. They were signed by Piikkikasvi booking agency and performed as opening acts for well-known bands like 22-pistepirkko.
In 2004 Kentala participated in the national Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Deck of Cards" as Dee Kay Records artist. He wrote the song with Janne Hyöty at the Dee Kay Studios in Vaasa. He won his semi final round and eventually came in second in the finals. Kentala also participated in the national Eurovision Song Contest in 2007 competing with two songs, "Left my heart behind" and "Merry-Go-Round". Left my heart behind made it to the finals.
Kentala has performed with great singers such as Osmo Ikonen, Tania Doko, and LaGaylia Frazier. He also played with top jazz musicians such as Max Schultz, Jorma Kalevi Louhivuori, and Jukka Perko.
